2006 Scholarship Dinner and Final Program

National Hispanic Health Foundation
Affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service
New York University

The Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program is the only national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care - medicine, nursing, dentistry, public health, health management and policy analysis, health research, and allied health. The third annual NHHF Scholarship GALA Dinner was convened at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, New York City, November 30th,
2006.

There is a dearth of Hispanic health professionals in the United States. Only four percent of all physicians, three percent of all dentists, and two percent of all total nurses are Hispanic. We must increase these numbers. The National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) has developed a unique program to award scholarships to talented students, the future leaders in health care.

Established in 1994 in Washington, DC, the NHMA represents licensed Hispanic physicians in the U.S. NHMA is recognized as a resource at the national level and includes a network of Hispanic health professional associations and Hispanic medical societies across the United States to fulfill its mission to improve the health of all Americans. NHHF, the 501c3 arm of NHMA, is building on this network in developing "The Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship" which will reward students in health policy and health professional programs for exceptional academic performance, leadership, and commitment to their community. NHHF is affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, which has developed leaders in public service, public health and health services research arenas.

We hope you will share our enthusiasm for the goals and commitment of this project. We thank you for all you do in service to your community. Please call (202) 628-5895 for more information.
